Live Poker Tournaments Restart after New Year Break

After a short break the live poker circuits are back on the road with an action packed first fortnight to the New Year.

After a break for Christmas and the New Year poker players are getting back on the road for the first live tournaments of 2012. This week sees action from the World Poker Tour, the European Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker.

The World Poker Tour starts with WPT Ireland at the Citywest Hotel Conference, Leisure and Gold Resort in Dublin. The event will culminate in a €2,500 Main Event running for four days with a televised final on January 8th. They are also running an Irish Poker Championship as well as a number of single day, low buy-in tournaments.

On European Poker Tour is starting with its most popular event, the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. The most expensive event there is the $98,500 + $1,500 Super High Roller 8-Max Re-entry event which is sure to be a thriller.

The $10,000 + $300 Main Event begins on Saturday and will run throughout the week with a televised and webcast final table on Friday 13th January.

At the same time there will be over 30 extra events running including the PCA Battleship Main Event. This is a heads-up tournament played online but in person. Competitors will sit opposite one another playing on laptops with the monitors placed back to back like in the popular board game “Battleship”.

Finally the World Series of Poker Circuit is stopping at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens. The tournament started on New Year’s days and there are loads of events taking place right up until January 12th including small buy-in ring events and official circuit ring events. The $1,600 Main Event starts on the 10th and will run over three days, there are two Day 1 flights and players who are knocked out on Day 1A and re-buy themselves back into Day 1B.

The World Series of Poker Tour is also taking place online. They recently launched a Facebook social game for poker fans. The WSOP Facebook poker game was developed by Electronic Arts and Caesars Interactive Entertainment, the parent company of WSOP. It is available for PC, Apple iOS and Android devices.

The online version of the world poker tour has a number of different versions of poker that players can enjoy – full tournament and short-handed play. It is free of course!
