World Series of Poker Returns to Africa

The World Series of Poker is visiting Africa for a second time for a week of high quality poker and top prizes.

2010 saw great success for the first ever World Series of Poker Africa tournament and this week its successor is taking place. The event is being hosted at the Emerald Resort and Casino and will be run until the 26th February with a Main Event as well as five other events. There is also a separate one-day ladies tournament which has a WSOP Circuit ladies pendant and other prizes up for grab.

Over the course of the week there will be four mega-satellite tournaments taking place to give players a chance to win seats at the main event. With prizes including tournament rings, it is expected that there will be tough competition right from the start.

The CEO of the Emerald Resort and Casino, Martin Rice, said that there will be a total of six WSOP tournament rings up for grabs over the six days which means that this it “the biggest and most prestigious poker tournament ever to be staged in South Africa.”

Medusa’s Gaze Released by Playtech

Playtech’s list of arcade games gets longer as two instant classics are added.

Microgaming Releases Brand New Medusa Themed Slots

 Following the success of their first Medusa themed slot game, Microgaming has just releasedanother which is even more enjoyable than the first.

Medusa has always been one of the better known characters from Greek mythology, the Gorgon
sister who boasted that her beauty was greater than that of Athena. In revenge for her boast, Athena
turned her into a monster and declared that anyone who looks at her will be turned to stone. Now
Microgaming has announced a new slot game with Medusa as its theme.

The game is called ‘Mount Olympus: The Revenge of Medusa’ and has been made available in the Flash
instant play Microgaming software. This is the second of Microgaming’s Medusa themed games, the
first, Mark of Medusa, was made available through the download software.

The Mark of Medusa was released four years ago featuring Medusa as the wild symbol as well as the
winged horse Pegasus, the multi headed hound Cerberus, a Greek warrior, swords and urns. In the
new slot game Medusa is given a more central role. The game is set in the passage which was under
Medusa’s guard. Whilst Medusa is neither the wild nor the scatter symbol, she does offer the highest
fixed jackpot of 1,000 coins. If a winning combination is spun then the high value card symbols are
turned into stone presumably by Medusa’s angry glare.

The new game includes a free spins feature which is triggered when three or more Mount Olympus
symbols appear on the reels. Before each free spin the player must choose from five snakes which
